Product Description
MILLENNIUM ChessGenius Pro

The chess computer for club and tournament players

Playing strength more than 2200 ELO!

One of the most powerful chess computers of all time, featuring the world-champion software ChessGenius by Richard Lang!

In addition to a more elegant appearance Genius Pro provides especially a significantly higher skill level, it reaches more than 2,200 ELO after international tournament standard. This was achieved through a variety of hardware and software modifications:

Improvements on Hardware

  • Significantly faster processor with 120 MHz clock speed (Factor 2.5 times as much as ChessGenius)
  • 160 KB RAM (Factor 5 times as much as ChessGenius)
  • Automatic power supply detection – connected power supply switches off the sleep mode during 24 hours for long term analyzing
  • Significantly improved sensor board with smooth-running pressure point

Imporvements on Software

  • Three different options for Openings selectable:
    • 'No opening book', computer calculates by itself
    • 'Classic London Book', of. 57.000 positions (Equivalent to the old Chess Genius, library was enlarged by a factor of 2.8)
    • 'Modern Book' , more than 100,000 positions, completely new library of modern opening variations. By HIARCS
  • Generally improved sleep mode with extended wake cycles
  • Display of move numbers in INFO mode
  • New 'Matt in X' stage especially for problem solving

Optical improvements

  • Exclusive chess pieces in white chrome (white pieces) and black chrome (black pieces)
  • Exclusive felt-bottom on the pieces

The sum of all measures results in a significant performance improvement over the established model, so that the "Pro" is the perfect choice especially for ambitious players. The improvements in handling and appearance of course also welcome all players who do not just put on peak power value. The new options allow the Pro to play much more diversified than the ChessGenius, so that playing is on a new level of excitement. The few opponents, where the Genius so far failed, get a new job!

Due to the increased performance of the processor, we recommend to operate the Genius Pro by the power supply sold separately. The battery operation is still possible, however, the playing time with batteries is well below that of the Genius.

Playing levels and playing difficulty

  • Virtually unlimited number of levels of difficulty
  • Average time per move configurable
  • Max overall duration of game configurable
  • Includes demanding tournament levels suitable for skilled players
  • Special „Matt in X“ stage for problem solving

  • Shows suggested moves (best, second best, third best etc. moves from the respective position)

  • Versatile analysis mode (text displays and chessboard display)

4 of 5 Very strong chess computer. October 27, 2016
Reviewer: NintendoMan from United Kingdom
The ChessGenius Pro is an update to last years model that has a chess rating of around 2200 ELO.  I'm currently testing the Pro version but it looks like this has a rating somewhere between 2300 and 2400.  This is a major upgrade in playing strength and like its predecessor, excellent value for money.  Apart from the chrome style chess pieces, this computer has a slightly updated chess program with options to select two different book opening libraries.  Book 1 has about 57,000 moves and Book 2 has around 100,000.  More is not necessarily better, so its interesting to switch between these libraries to determine which is the best option for a particular opponent.  There are some other smaller tweaks including a more sensitive sensor board making it easier to enter moves.  Overall I would say this is a good chess computer to own, but if you are happy with the first machine, and this is certainly strong enough for most, then upgrading to the Pro is not essential.
